San Diego > Sightseeing Tips

The most efficient way to “see” San Diego is to spend the $24 and hop on an Old Town Trolley Tour (619/ 298-8687) first thing in the morning. If for some reason your hotel can’t supply you with information about the trolleys, there are stops located all over town.

Usually, a shuttle will pick you up at your hotel and bring you to Old Town, the starting point of the tour. Tour conductors are well educated in the city’s history, which makes for well-narrated rides, and the trolleys cover most major attractions in town.

Also, you can tour at your own pace, getting on and off the trolley at certain points of the tour. A tour - without leaving the train - takes approximately two hours. The trolley loops downtown area and once you return to the starting point, you must pay again for another ride—so be sure to get off whenever something seems even remotely interesting. Trolleys stop about every five to ten minutes. Old Town Trolley Tours will take you to the following destinations---

Old Town State Park
Seaport Village
Horton Plaza
Coronado Island
Hotel Del Coronado
San Diego Zoo
Whaley House
Star of India
Heritage Park
El Prado
Balboa Park
Naval Station San Diego
Lindbergh Field
Aerospace Museum
Natural History Museum
San Diego Museum of Art
Gaslamp Quarter
