San Diego > Done it all?

There are several alternatives to “standard” San Diego if for some reason you find the city un-appealing. Of course, you can find entertainment anywhere with enough money; but assuming you wish to spend little as possible without sacrificing a spirited adventure, there is one very cool option that doesn’t have to cost you a lot of cash -- Tijuana! Tijuana is just 17 miles south of downtown San Diego. Take the San Diego Trolley, a light-rail trolley system that runs from downtown San Diego to the Mexican border for just $2.25 each way. If you are driving, however, it’s probably best to just park your car on the U.S. side and walk across the border. NOTE: Never drive across the border without Mexican Car Insurance (on rental cars Mexican Insurance is often valid only if issued by the rental car company). From duty-free shopping to Sunday afternoon bullfights, Tijuana may not offer true Mexican culture due to the over-saturation of tourists, but it can certainly prove a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
