Overview
Designed specifically for children ages 3-12 and their families, Legoland is the perfect place to bring the youngsters. It’s an interactive park that’s practically a city
unto itself, containing several distinctive neighborhoods, rides, games, dining and more.
In the heart of Legoland is Miniland, home of several amazing replicas of some of America’s best-known landmarks, all of which have been meticulously constructed from 20 million LEGO pieces. In this area guests can observe in great detail the architectural staples of Washington D.C., New Orleans, New York, San Francisco and the California coastline. Also located at Miniland is the Model Shop, where visitors can witness LEGO Master Builders constructing new models.
In Fun Town, kids ages 6-13 can learn to drive real electric cars and get their official Legoland driver’s license at Driving School. There is also a “real life” driving experience for children ages 3-5. Kids can learn boating skills at Skipper School, or become helicopter and airplanes pilots at the Sky Patrol and the Flight Squadron. At the Adventurers’ Club children walk a mysterious journey featuring inhabitants of the Amazon rain forest, Egypt and the Arctic—all made from LEGO bricks. Don’t forget a tour through the Lego Factory or a visit to one or two of the numerous restaurants and stages for entertainment.
Located at Castle Hill is The Dragon, a gravity-coaster with a spirited and humorous view of life within the enchanted Legoland Castle. At the Royal Joust kids ride LEGO horses through a number of medieval scenes. Kids also can enjoy The Hideaways playground, the Enchanted Walk through a landscaped setting containing Lego models of animals, and the Builders Guild, where they can participate both physically and architecturally in the erection of their own structures.
At the Village Green, the Fairy Tale Brook will enchant children with a boat ride through childhood fairytales. The Safari Trek will take guests into the wilds of Africa, complete with life-sized LEGO models of African game. The Water Works is an interactive area where kids get to play with water, but without ever getting in it. The Village Green also features two theaters, the Corner Shop and the Duplo Train.
The Ridge offers the Sky Cruiser, where guests circle the ridge in a high-flying pedal car, and Kid Power Towers, a self-propelled ride that offers visitors an excellent view of the park and more. The Lake features the Coast Cruise, where visitors can cruise the along the lakeshore enjoying a variety of sights and adventures.
In the Imagination Zone children can check out the computer-equipped learning center, the Maniac Challenge, or, at Build & Test, they can actually build a car and test it against the competition on the racetrack. Also located at Imagination Zone are the Aquazone Wave Racers, where children power ski through waves while dodging water blasts.
Daily passes for adults cost $34; tickets for children aged 3-16 are $29. Parking is $7.00 for standard-sized vehicles. Park hours vary seasonally and may change without notice, so it’s best to contact the park directly. Rides close a half-hour before the Park closes.
Legoland is located off Exit Interstate 5 at Cannon Road in Carlsbad. Go east, following signs to LEGO Drive. The park is located one hour south of Disneyland in Anaheim and approximately 40 minutes north of downtown San Diego.
